ABOUT
Main bio

I’m a software engineer by education who spent eight years designing products. I like the messy start of a product and everything that comes after it, all the way to production.

Most of my work happens in the gap between a product decision and the thing actually existing. Eight years designing products, three building them — which means I can argue about a flow in the morning and have it running by the afternoon, instead of writing a spec for someone else to interpret.

The tools change, the approach doesn't: get close to the real problem, build something rough enough to react to, then cut until only what matters is left. A working prototype settles arguments that a mockup never will.

Right now I'm building products end to end — the product call, the interface, and the code that ships it. Codex and Claude do a lot of the typing; the decisions are still mine.
When I'm not building, I'm usually pulling apart an app I like to work out why one screen feels effortless and the next one doesn't. Lately most of that curiosity goes into what AI tooling changes about how software gets made.

Decide by building

I'd rather settle a product question by building the thing than by arguing about a mockup. A rough working version tells you in ten minutes what a review cycle won't tell you in a week.

no handoff required.

The implementation is the design

A flow that can't be built the way it was drawn isn't finished. Knowing the component system, the data underneath and the states nobody asked about is what makes a design hold up in production.

code is the artifact.

Ship, then learn

Work that ships teaches you things work that doesn't never will. I'd rather put a smaller version in front of real people this week than a complete one next quarter.

small, often, real.
